Mr. Firas Mashal with the Home-bred Filly LUBNA AL FIRAS After Winning the First in Class of Yearling Fillies in Aachen 2019.

The Farm

The farm was born 5 years ago and is the vision of businessman Mr. Firas Mashal. Quietly over this time, he has observed, taken notes and studied the Arabian horse industry before putting his dreams into action. As an active rider himself, he understands the conformation and functionality of a horse. The broodmares of course are the cornerstone of any great breeding stable and in an unhurried fashion, bloodlines from different parts of the world have been sourced to create a solid foundation for the next generation of Al Firas horses.

About

On the outskirts of the bustling city of Abu Dhabi lays the peace and tranquility of the Al Firas stud. A place where the horses graze on rich grass paddocks and an air of calm surrounds the stables.

“Each stud has their strong damlines that consistently produce better and better, so I wanted to bring in a representative from a few of these respected families,” smiles Firas, as he watches his mares relaxing in the cool desert breeze.

The quality and purity of the Egyptian lines as a key ingredient for breeding sought of the glorious stallion Ramses Mashaal Nadir (Mishaal x Ramses Minx), the Egyptian related mare Phalaenopsis by Al Safir AA x El Adiya Al Rumaiya, as well as the charismatic Khalil Al Shaqab daughter Louna GCA who is out of the famed family of Loubana, herself a Laheeb daughter out of Bint Karima so a mixing of the finest blood. SA Alraadiya, a much-admired Al Ayal AA daughter heralding from one of Poland’s finest, Dumka, the blood of the world-renowned Babolna State Stud of Hungary was added through the El Nabila B daughter, Rohara Sophisticate, herself a winner at the Las Vegas breeders Cup were also added. The Padrons Psyche, Bey Shah cross has been so consistent that the celebrated Breanna Psy and her maternal niece Jawaher Al Firas sired by PCF Vision also came into the breeding barns. Jawaher produced Nayef Al Firas by Ever After NA, this royally bred young colt will expect his first foals in 2020and so the foundation is in place to build upon a dream.

The yearling filly Lubna Al Firas wasnamed unanimous Gold Champion at Montefalco International Arabian horse festival in Italy and won her class at the 2019 All Nations Cup in Aachen, this is the first step for a homebred horse to be sent outside of the UAE to promote the Al Firas name. Sired by the legendry World, US and multi International champion stallion, Marajj, Lubna Al Firas has also taken much from her dam, the near perfect breed standard of SS Lady Diana, an Ajman Moniscione daughter deriving from a Padron/ Fame VF dam line.

A few more mares have been added including the half-sister to World Champion Atheena, the Fatal Attraction daughter Ffaria out of one of the breeds golden mares, AssWindi, herself a daughter of Saskia RJ.

“I love to go to the shows to not only see these amazing horses bring joy to their owners but more importantly for me, it’s a learning curve to see living proof of which bloodlines mix and gel together the best. I have a book filled with ideas and notes of many stallions that I admire but it’s sad that most of the winning horses utilize the same bloodlines out of the hundreds of horses that history has given us. Sometimes I believe breeders sometimes need to take a step backwards to in order to jump forwards,” comments Firas. And while I watch this man, you can see his thought process isn’t rushed or fashioned by fads.

With this small collection of superlative treasures, the pieces are set in place and with the advice and help from the newest team member, Barry Shepherd and a little luck, Al Firas Arabian Horse Stud will soon become a name synonymous with some of the most beautiful Arabian horses in the world.
